![]() ![]() It is a duplicate of an existing texture, "E3m4ft". The 16bit folder contains some askyboxes that do not appear in the 32bit folder and were cut from the final game.Ī texture called "3m4ft" can be found in the 16 bit folder. ![]() The clouds in the sky are a light white, while the final uses much larger and darker clouds. A light brown color is where the water is in the final version. The prototype E2M4 skybox appears to take the same ques as the one in the final game, but is less detailed. The ground in the October 1999 prototype's E2M3 skybox uses the same texture seen in the final version's, but is less saturated than the final design and has fog over it. The mountains are completely different, with different textures and are far more rounded than the ones shown in the final game. The sky itself is a tanish color with some blue popping in here and there in the October 1999 build, while it's orange in the final game. The skybox for E2M3 in the October 1999 prototype has a lot of differences when compared with the final version. The textures are much brighter as well, with the sun being visible in one of the textures. ![]() THe sky is also completely different, being lighter and using different cloud formations than the final's. It lacks the mountains that appear in the final's skybox, with a light yellow area on the "ground" where the mountains would be. This texture can be found, unused, in the final game's skybox textures as "e1m1tilebak".Į2M1's October 1999 skybox is much more basic than the one in the final game. The "tile" texture uses drawn clouds, while the final game uses photosourced skies. The "up" tile does not have clouds like it does in the final game. Several of the textures have the same mountains used in the final version of the skybox, but the mountains themselves have different, more simple textures, no fog, and a very basic sky. The October 1999 E1M1 appears to be an earlier version of the one used in the final game. The up texture shows the Daikatana logo on the clouds. The sky is divided into three parts a cloudy top, a black middle, and a light blue bottom. ![]() The October 1999-exclusive level E1DM6 has a unique skybox not seen in the final game. It seems the developers had intended on the game having lower-quality textures for slower systems at some point, but abandoned the plan late in development. However, the final game only has a "32bit" folder. The October 1999 prototype contains two skybox folders, "16bit" and "32bit". Start skybox section= 16 bit and 32 bit skyboxes ![]()
